Watching that wretched excuse for a human being in Parliament today lie, deceive, slither and writhe like the snake he is made me want to puke. His pathetic performance also reminded me of an interview which gets far too little publicity yet deserves widespread promotion and attention.
It was recorded nine years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTAClNQUUeE and uncharacteristically for a BBC programme it destroyed Johnson and exposed him as the fraudulent, dishonest, dishonourable, disreputable, despicable person he is. Nine years ago!!! No-one gets to say they weren’t warned. The Scottish interviewer Eddie Mair literally gives him his character and suggests he is ‘a nasty piece of work’.
It received some coverage at the time https://www.theguardian.com/politics/video/2013/mar/24/boris-johnson-accused-nasty-video but with less than 400,000 views it is woefully under promoted.
On the other hand the Peter Stefanovic video which concisely captures eight bare faced Johnson lies https://twitter.com/PeterStefanovi2 on issues from child poverty numbers to nurses bursaries and NHS investment levels has clocked up 44.3 million views and is heading for 50 million if we all keep sharing it and promoting it.
A remarkable number of views for a short two minutes and twenty seconds video made by an activist and solicitor who has done a tremendous job highlighting and documenting the rancid dishonesty spewed by Johnson on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. If the corporate media dedicated an ounce of the energy and application shown by Stefanovic in exposing Johnson, the liar perhaps he wouldn’t be in the top political job in the UK right now ripping the utter pish out of us.
The guy who demanded everyone else obey the strict and very restrictive Covid19 rules on social mixing says initially he didn’t break any rules but when that lie was exposed by a police investigation and he was fined and criminalised while in office as the Prime Minister, the first time ever, he then switched to the line that he didn’t realise attending a party with a ‘bring your own booze’ invitation actually was a party.
It is incredulous that the guy who imposed the rules on the rest of us thought it was okay for him to ignore them but when caught out that we would believe he genuinely didn’t know he was breaking the rules… Either he is as thick as an oak tree or pathologically incapable of telling the truth. In reality he embodies a combination of both those traits.
Stefanovic’s latest short video is worth watching and sharing widely https://twitter.com/PeterStefanovi2/status/1516451012516716549 as it encapsulates the truth in just two minutes that what he said to Parliament and the public today was nothing more and nothing less than a heap of steaming bullshit. The UK has always been governed by the rich for the rich and defended the privileged status quo at any cost. But the fact that imperialist UK which once ruled an Empire that straddled two-thirds of the world’s surface is now headed up by Boris Johnson illustrates graphically how decrepit and decayed that once mighty British Empire has become.
The fact the people of England voted for Boris Johnson in 2019 is irrefutable evidence that Scotland and England are two fundamentally different countries with different values and priorities.
In 2019 the Tory vote increased by 2% in England and 2.5% in Wales. In Scotland their already meagre vote share fell by 3.5% to only 25%, still too high but a reflection of the fact in an independent Scotland there will be no Tory governments. There is an old saying that is entirely appropriate for the situation we find ourselves in as a society: ‘Don’t blame a clown for acting like a clown. Blame yourself for going to the circus’. We in Scotland have only one escape route from the Johnson lies and Tory sleaze and that is independence.
No one who voted to stay part of the UK in 2014 has the right to complain about Tory rule today. The rejection of independence in September 2014 had huge consequences. The election of a moronic right-wing government in 2019 was one of those consequences. By allowing England to maintain it’s right to decide Scotland’s fate and choose our government at Westminster we are trapping ourselves in an ever-worsening situation.
Poverty is spreading, inequality is celebrated, the NHS is privatised and the plundering of resources by a rich minority to the detriment of the majority continues apace. From around £256 billion in wealth amongst the richest 1,000 individuals in 2010 they have now amassed even more obscene amounts of wealth approaching £800 billion. Meanwhile the real value of wages, benefits and pensions have reduced significantly, and the treasured NHS has been starved of proper resources to make it ripe for continued privatisation.
Bleating about how terrible the Tories are and how much of a lying arsehole Johnson is gets us nowhere fast. The only solution to the dire position we find ourselves in with the worst inflation levels for decades, highest heating bills on record and diminishing living standards is independence. Breaking free from Westminster control and exploitation is no longer a hope for a better future it is now our only hope for a better future. Tories and integrity simply don’t mix. Iain Banks the late and much missed Scottish author accurately explained that fact many years ago:
Breaking the rotten British Union is Scotland’s escape route to a more prosperous and much fairer society. Talking about independence is all fine and well but advancing the cause of independence is now more urgent and imperative than ever. If the SNP don’t shape up soon, they will find themselves replaced by others who are prepared to do more than talk and pontificate endlessly without any substance at the end of it.
